How PRF Works
PRF (and treatment like platelet rich plasma, or “PRP”) is an innovative therapy that separates your blood platelets and fibrin. We draw a vial of your blood prior to your oral surgery or dental implant installation then place it into a centrifuge.
Following your procedure, the PRF is put back into a syringe and injected directly into your surgical site. The stem cells, white blood cells, and platelet-rich fibrin then trigger your body to jump-start the wound healing process.
Wellness Dental is one of the few providers in the Surprise, Mesa, and Tucson areas to offer this innovative treatment.
PRF is 100% natural and being that it comes from your own body, it’s readily accepted by your immune system and tissues. Clinical trials show continued reduced healing times following surgical procedures like wisdom tooth removal and placement of dental implants.
What to Expect
When you arrive for your surgical procedure, we will place a small line in your arm similar to having blood drawn at the doctor’s office. Within a matter of seconds, we’ll have a vial of your body’s natural blood cells and platelets to place into the centrifuge. The machine spins your blood sample, separating the different elements of your blood (such as the fibrin, plasma, platelets, etc.) into various layers. From there, the PRF is removed and placed back into a small syringe, which can be injected at the immediate surgical site during your appointment. You won’t have to feel a thing.
PRF tells your body to jump-start the clot formation process and reduces healing times as it already brings those vital cells and platelets directly to your surgical site.
Incorporating PRF into your oral surgery appointment can reduce recovery times by a matter of several days.
Types of Surgeries Where PRF is Used
PRF is extremely safe, as it uses your own plasma and fibrin tissues to jump-start the natural healing process. The technique we use is FDA-approved and completely administered by trained providers who are licensed to offer this innovative therapy.

Revolutionizing Patient Care
The difference in patient recovery times following PRF treatment is significant enough, that we recommend platelet rich plasma for all of our oral surgery procedures. By investing in the advanced technology required to offer PRF services, we can ensure the best treatment outcome and a gentler recovery for each person we care for.
Opting to add PRF to your surgical procedure ensures the highest level of comfort and fastest recovery time possible.
